March Analysis Presentation

On March 29, the Project Team presented their analysis of the Coconut Grove Waterfront at the Women's Club of Coconut Grove. The meeting consisted of a presentation by Mark Dawson of Sasaki Associates and Tom Lavash of ERA, followed by questions from the audience. Attendees were asked to place sticker dots on both image and goal statement boards as they left. The sticker dots will allow the team to better understand the audience's priorities in determining the future use and character of the waterfront.

February - March Stakeholder Meetings

On February 16, the Project Team met with community stakeholders at the Frankie Shannon Rolle Neighborhood Center in the Village West area of Coconut Grove. The communities' desires for the waterfront ranged from the incorporation of the Commodore Trail to water taxi service and from an amphitheater in Peacock Park to a boardwalk connecting to the Spoil Islands.

The Team also met with hoteliers from the local hotels on the waterfront and discussed their concerns and desires for the future of the waterfront. Renovating the Expo Center into a smaller boutique-style conference center would boost the hotels' year-round occupancy.

The Project Team met with stakeholders from the North and West Grove to gather valuable information about the site on March 21st and March 27, 2006. Stakeholders expressed both their current concerns with the waterfront area and their desires for the future of the waterfront.
