At its November, 2006 visit the studioINSITE and Sasaki Associates, Inc. Team provided offered planning principles to guide the plan's development and contents:

• Develop master plan that illustrates location, form, dimensions and program to meet the institutions' top-priority facilities for the next five years.  Identify financial means of achieving this growth;
• Develop a plan that features components of sustainable design, consistent with the City of Denver's Greenprint Denver Plan; 
• Enhance circulation for pedestrians and bicyclists;
• Reduce the automobile dependence of the campus site plan;
• Construct high performance buildings;
• Provide for rich open space experiences;
• Reduce stormwater impacts;
• Preserve historically significant facilities;
• Enhance campus access;
• Enhance the design aesthetic and utility of the campus, creating opportunity for each institution to have an independent identity as a component of the larger AHEC identity.
