A Message From the President

The mission of John Carroll, as a Jesuit and Catholic University, is to prepare students for lifelong leadership and service.  The physical environment of our campus plays a vital role in the success of academic, co-curricular, and residence life programs that support this mission.

Physical improvements on our campus during the past decade, plus a changing strategic environment for higher education, lead us at this time to assess our campus, facilities, and the needs of the University.  We have retained Sasaki Associates, Inc. to help us prepare a master plan that will represent the physical medium for delivering our core programs and pursue our strategic initiatives now and in the coming decade.

We envision a campus setting that will:

  • support learning and the development of the Carroll Community;
  • encourage more intense participation;
  • enhance social interaction;
  • appeal to our campus community, alumni, visitors, and the larger community.

During the year-long planning exercise, we cordially welcome comments and suggestions from our campus constituents, public officials, and neighbors.  Please visit this web site often.

Sincerely,
Robert L. Niehoff, S.J.
President

What's New?

The campus master plan officially began on February 21, 2007.  Since that time, the consultant team has completed the first round of analysis, which was presented during Work Session 2, held from April 11-12.  In addition to the JCU campus community, this work session also provided the opportunity to seek input from the larger University Heights and Shaker Heights communities.  Sasaki was back on campus from May 8-10 to conduct a series of interviews with all academic departments on campus.

Upcoming Meetings

The campus master plan schedule is in the process of being revised and a future date and time for the next public meeting will be announced as soon as it has been made official. Please follow the link to read recent correspondence issued by the University to keep the community informed on the progress and next steps involved in the campus master plan process.
